Review of K S Hegde Hospital and Dr. Bhagwan Our experience at K S Hegde Hospital was extremely disappointing and traumatic 1.We felt the treatment approach was more money-oriented rather than patient-centered. 2.A general surgeon (Dr. Bhagwan) handled an oncology case. We were told that “all surgeries come under general surgery” and that oncology as a separate department was unnecessary. This statement was confusing, especially when the hospital has multiple specialized departments. 3. “My father has CKD and rectum cancer, and a colostomy was performed during his first surgery. We are uncertain whether it is functioning properly. A second surgery was unexpectedly scheduled one week later.” We were not clearly informed about the need for a second surgery. We only came to know about it when the anaesthesia doctor came for pre-surgery fitness evaluation. 4.There was poor communication regarding my father’s actual medical condition and prognosis. We were not given timely or transparent updates 5.When my father was in the ICU in critical condition, Dr. Bhagwan instructed that food be given through a nasal tube. However, ICU nurses refused, stating there were no such instructions. This shows a serious lack of coordination and communication between the doctor and ICU staff. 6.Some PG students behaved unprofessionally. One PG student (Prashob) was very rude towards my father. We also felt that other PG students involved were not confident(Pranjal and others)and lacked proper supervision. 7.During discussions, Dr. Bhagwan himself allegedly stated that PG students are “paper doctors” and unfit for the job, which raises serious concerns about training and patient safety. 8.Overall, we felt my father was subjected to trial-and-error treatment rather than a structured oncology approach. Our family went through emotional and financial stress, and unfortunately, we lost my father after this course of treatment. This experience has left us deeply hurt. We hope the hospital administration takes these concerns seriously and improves transparency, inter-department coordination, and patient communication to prevent other families from going through similar trauma. Reply : My father was undergoing dialysis twice a week before this operation. Given his medical condition, we expected careful planning, coordination, and transparency. However, we were very disappointed with how the surgery was handled. Initially, it appeared that only the general surgeon performed the procedure. We were told robotic surgery would be attempted, but eventually it was converted to open surgery. "At the last moment, an onco-surgeon was called in". This gave us the impression that there was no proper surgical planning beforehand. Additionally, after the surgery, we were shocked to see that the staff seemed unsure about how to properly attach and manage the colostomy bag. Another serious issue was regarding consent. Every time we raised concerns, we were told that we had been informed and that consent forms were signed. However, in reality, consent forms were often given to us at the last moment or late at night, when we were under stress and pressure. This does not feel like proper informed consent. Signing documents in such situations does not mean that everything was clearly explained or understood. We would like clear answers to the following questions: 1.Why was there no clear surgical plan finalized before taking the patient into surgery? 2.Why was an onco-surgeon not involved from the beginning if the case required one? 3.Why was the surgical method changed from robotic to open surgery without proper prior explanation? 4.Why did the staff appear untrained in handling a colostomy bag? 5.Why were consent forms taken at the last moment or late at night instead of being explained properly in advance? We request the hospital management to review this case seriously and provide transparent answers. Patient safety, proper planning, and genuine informed consent should always be the highest priority.

Dear Hegde hospital team Recently I have admitted wife in your hospital (N5A)and got discharged too and I have below observation which may help you for further improvements Good point: 1. Very good hospital and good doctors too with best environmental gestures all around the hospital 2. The staff nurses an Ayaammaa (akka,s) are also being so supportive for every moment of treatment Need to improve : 1. Due to high patient and less staff the patient and patient related members will be receiving slow support and treatment procedure. 2. Need to improve housekeeping service at ward 3. Need separate team for movement of patient to MRI and other scan services 4. Discharge procedure is very slow which takes over a day even after multiple follow ups 5.Even out patient services also being too slow 6. No one feels it’s private hospital thinking that even government hospitals provides fastest support

We had a very good experience at the hospital. From the beginning, Dr. Vikram Shetty guided us very well and gave us a lot of confidence and motivation. He explained everything clearly and gave us confidence that my mother would recover well and walk normally after the surgery, which really helped us stay positive. The surgery was done successfully, and we are very thankful to him for his care and support. We would also like to specially thank Sharmila madam for guiding us through the insurance process and helping us with everything. She motivated my mother and always came to check if we needed anything. Her support made a big difference for our family. Overall, we are very happy and satisfied with the treatment, care, and support from the entire hospital team. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff for taking such good care of my mother.

I had a really disappointing experience at this hospital. The doctor doesn’t even seem to know how to properly do wound dressings. The dressing they applied was too small and started getting loose within an hour — this is the second time it has happened and that really irritates and because of it the wound is not healing. I expected better care and basic medical attention, but the quality of treatment is far below acceptable. I sincerely hope the hospital takes this feedback seriously and improves their staff’s training and patient care.
