"My experience was excellent. The doctor was friendly and explained everything well. The clinic was clean and the staff were helpful. I would definitely recommend Dr. Vikas Thanvi to others."
amazing doctor. gives you good amount of time not like other doctors who just listen to you for 5 minutes and prescribes medication. very polite and understanding doctor. thoroughly explains the issue and prescribes the best medicines available . been to 4 to 5 different doctors but sirs treatment is the only one that worked very well. do not pay attention to the negative reviews others have posted. sir has immense knowledge and experience and will give you the best possible medication.
Dr. Vikas Thanvi is not a doctor but into money making business. He never care about what the patient's feeling and what he/she going through. He only cares about money and make sure that patient just keep on taking his medicines so that patient gets dependent on him. Had really bad experience with him. He always keep himself updated with latest gadgets and devices but seems like that's the only things he care about. Seriously don't recommend anyone. The staff at the clinic is not at all supportive. They act as if they are the doctor and don't care about others time. One can see how much the doctor invested in the gadgets for the staff and for himself which reflects back in terms of money they charge you for consultation. I think his cure is meant only for rich and high class people who can afford his treatment.
I was a patient of Dr. Vikas Thanvi for 5 years from 2015 to 2020 and his wife Mrs. Radha Thanvi for some months in between, off and on. I went to him for Depression, OCD, Anxiety, and Insomnia. My experience was average most of the time and quite bad towards the end. Even my brother went to him for OCD and his experience wasn't good either. Here are some good and bad points. Pros: - Well organized with a system of appointment and a/c waiting area. - Option of video calling. - In house pharmacy. - Sits during day hours. My previous shrink taught during the day and saw patients in the evening without appointment. It was a torture. That was the primary reason I came to see Thanvi ji. Cons: - Treatment is very medicine-based. He doesn't know anything beyond writing prescriptions. Mrs. Thanvi as a therapist is also very average, and they don't work together to treat a patient. He is all about medicines and her talk therapy is average. Simple concepts like CBT aren't used. - I do not recommend him for chronic primary psychiatric disorders like Depression, Anxiety, etc. for which only medicines are not enough. Maybe he's more well suited for more serious psychiatric disorders like Schizophrenia or the like where medicines are more crucial for the treatment. Or since he’s so medicine based, maybe he’ll be better at treating acute conditions. - No follow ups. No inventory of symptoms, no tracking of anything not even body weight. No checking kidney function or liver function tests and adjusting the medicines accordingly. No concern for the chronic patient. - Hardly gives you 10 mins of his time max. Focus is basically on continuing medicines. Never curious about what's happening at your end. - Don’t expect him to understand your problem if it’s not in the book. Compulsive pornography viewing was one of my main problems and he neither understood it nor ever acknowledged it. But now it’s in the DSM V so you can expect him to. - Behaves too idealistically with patients. Mental health patients already have a tough life on top of life being tough as it is. They need compassion, not orders! - On a side note, you'll always find him with the latest Apple devices. Always up to date with Apple devices but never what's happening with his patient. Towards the end my experience was especially bad. Over the years the medicines had started to take effect, a lot due to a lot of effort from my side with meditation and reading etc. Towards the end of 2020 I reached a point where I was feeling very numb and didn't feel like I needed most of my medicines. Lockdown was especially hard on me, as with everyone, and I was sleeping almost 16 hours a day and I repeatedly told him that over video call twice a month (Video call is unnecessarily Rs. 1,000 as compared to general appointment which is Rs. 700). Still he took a lot of time to taper my medicines and increased one of them to unnecessarily high levels. It was as if he didn't want me cured but just wanted to prolong my 'treatment' because at the peak I was giving him total business of almost Rs. 5000/- per month with 4 medications (and I was also having weekly talk therapy sessions with his wife for around 8 weeks). (Note on Mrs. Radha Thanvi: My sessions with her were half helpful. But if you can read and write, just simply work to understand the basics of CBT and practice it a lot. Also read a lot about your illness and practice lots of mindfulness meditation. You’ll be better off than depending on talk therapy. But sometimes talk therapy does help and Mrs. Thanvi I would half recommend but you can’t depend on her to be cured.) Finally I stopped seeing him and simply tapered all my medicines except one and now life is simpler and much better. Even if I feel the need to see a psychiatrist again, I’m not going back to him.
He is very good person and great doctor too. I want to tell my story here. I lost my father in 2014 due to lung cancer. At that time I was only 14. In 2015, I was diagnosed with severe depression and OCD. Our family doctor told us about Dr. Vikas Thanvi so I was taken to him. He started me on medicines and within 6 months I was completely as good as earlier and was weaned off from medicines. Now comes the twist. In 2018, I cleared NEET exam in my very first attempt with a decent rank and got govt medical college. I feel without his treatment, I could never ever have achieved that. For all people out there, since now I belong to this noble medical field, I want to tell you that psychiatric problems are 100% curable. All they need is some little extra time, patience and faith. Have confidence in your doctor as he has studied and treated cases worsen than yours for many decades. To conclude I'd say, Thanvi sir has changed my life forever.
